A little #TuesdayTrivia.............. Did you know that sleeping Giraffes rest their heads on their rumps or may even doze standing up? These graceful creatures only spend between 10 minutes and two hours asleep per day, and apparently have the shortest sleep requirements of any mammal.

Thank you Loretta Z all the way from the United States for taking the time to send through this wonderful review to TripAdvisor after spending time with us at Idube! “SECOND STAY IN JUST OVER 1 YEAR: See the big 5 plus more!” We stayed here in January 2016 and now again in February 2017. The lodge is in the western sector of Sabi Sand and traverses the same area as the more expensive lodges but at a much better price tag. There are 2 Makubela suites. The difference between the suite and the chalet is the size and private plunge pool, but the chalets look out onto the grounds where the local wildlife resides. There is also a large lodge pool that can be used by everyone. There is only WiFi in the main area near the bar. WiFi in the suites would be a plus since you have your own pool and don't really want to spend your time in the main area. Food, to me, compared to the 5 star lodges I stay at. I am completely impressed with the chef and all those who do the cooking along side of him. Meals are always well made and have variety. Our ranger was Rob the Ranger (look him up on YouTube!) and Mark was our tracker. They certainly did deliver. We saw a pack of wild dogs (twice), the resident lion pride and their new cubs, several leopards and the rest of the big 5. The lodge can seat 10 pax in your vehicle. On most drives this was not the case but it's something to note. The management is down to Earth, easy to get along with and happy to spend time getting to know the guests. There will be a 3rd stay for us soon! Idube is a great lodge with wonderful people and the entire experience is one that you will want to repeat year after year.
